Sandhill Sports Centre – Swimming School Terms and Conditions
These terms and conditions have been drawn up to protect you, the customers and us, Sandhill Sports Centre.
Terms and conditions may refer to Sandhill Sports Centre as “us”, “the centre”, “swimming school” or “Sandhill Sports Centre”.
Terms and conditions may refer to you, the customer as “your child”, “swimmer” or “student”.
These terms and conditions must be accepted by a parent/guardian who has legal responsibility for the child, by accepting these terms and conditions you are agreeing for yourself and on behalf of your child.

a. Swimmers must shower before entering the pool.
b. No swimmer should enter the Pool Area without a member of the swim school’s staff being already present.
c. There must be no food or drink in any of the pool facilities. Swimmers, siblings, parents and guardians are expected to observe the centre’s no smoking policy.
d. No outdoor shoes are to be worn on poolside. If you wish to speak to your child’s swimming teacher please either remove shoes and socks or put on shoe covers provided. This clause is in accordance with the centre’s own health and safety policy which allows for no exceptions.
e. It is forbidden under all circumstances to use mobile phones and/ or audio visual equipment in the changing rooms. Signs clearly state this policy. It is forbidden under normal circumstances to use mobile phones and/or audio visual equipment whilst on poolside. No mobile phones and/ or audio visual equipment of any kind are allowed during swimming lessons.
f. Swimmers, siblings, parents and guardians are expected to observe the centre’s changing room policy.
g. Parents/guardians must remain on site at all times when your child is taking part in the lessons.
h. The centre will not under any circumstances, accept responsibility or liability in respect of any damage to or loss of any goods, articles or property of any kind brought into or left at the leisure centre.
i. No jewellery is to be worn in any lessons.
j. Parents/guardians accept that at times there will be physical contact between the teacher and their child, this will always be carried out in a professional and caring manner.
2. FEES & REFUNDS
a. All lesson fees must be paid for in advance.
b. Payments must take place in the enrolment window. For new starters, payments must be made prior to the child’s first lesson.
c. A late fee of £2.00 will be added to all payments made outside of the enrolment window, this fee is waived for new starters and to those returning to lessons from a long term illness. The management will also consider cases for exemption on a case to case basis.
d. Failure to pay the lesson fees on time may result in your child losing his or her place in the lessons.
e. Refunds will only be given in instances when Sandhill Sports Centre has cancelled lessons or in the case of a long term illness. The management will also consider cases for refund on a case to case basis.
f. Refunds will be given on a pro rota basis.
g. Refunds will be offered as credit against the next course fees unless your child is not returning to our lessons.
a. You will be notified of the enrolment windows by SMS (text message) and/or email. Posters will also be displayed around the centre for those who do not have access to SMS or email.
b. It is the responsibility of the parent/guardian to ensure all contact details are correct, Sandhill Sports Centre can not be held liable for any consequences that arise from incorrect contact details.
c. Failure to complete an application form in full may lead to your child losing his or her place in the lessons.
d. The centre requires the application form to be completed in full when changing any details to your child’s lessons.
e. If your child has a medical condition, disability or any additional needs, this must be stated on the application form. Any changes to your child’s circumstances must be communicated to the centre at the earliest opportunity to ensure that up-to-date records are maintained.
a. Sandhill Sports Centre reserves the right to cancel any lesson at their will.
b. Cancellation of lessons will only take place at the end of term.
c. If your child’s lesson is cancelled, you will be offered a different lesson, this may be on a different day and dependant on availability.
d. Sandhill Sports Centre may have to cancel lessons on a temporary basis due to reasons beyond their control. In these cases you will either receive a refund or the course may be extended.
5. DISPUTES AND COMPLAINTS
a. All disputes and complaints must be put into writing to the Swimming Lessons Coordinator or the Centre Manager – Sandhill Sports Centre, Grindon Lane, Sunderland, SR3 4EN.
6. DATA PROTECTION
a. All data is stored in accordance with the Data Protection Act 1998.
b. You can request a copy of any information we hold about you by submitting your request in writing along with a payment of £5.00 to - Sandhill Sports Centre, Grindon Lane, Sunderland, SR3 4EN.
c. You information, including contact details will only be used for the intended purposes and never shared with any third party or used for marketing purposes.
a. All physical activity carries risks and may aggravate medical conditions whether present or underlying.
b. Sandhill Sports Centre accepts no liability for any injury that may occur from the taking part in the swimming lessons unless the injury is a direct result of the actions of Sandhill Sports Centre staff or caused by a building defect.
c. It is the responsibility of the parent/guardian to ensure your child is fit and well enough to take part in lessons.
d. On occasion, we may ask for further information regarding any illness or condition including a doctors report.
e. Students must not take part in lessons if they have had a recent case of diarrhea. Official guidance states that they must not enter a swimming pool for 2 weeks after their last case.
f. Students must not take part in lessons if they have recently had a case of sickness that resulted in vomiting. Official guidance states that they must not enter a swimming pool for 2 days after their last case.
g. Parents/guardians should liaise with their GP after any illness or medical condition before their child returns to swimming lessons.
a. Sandhill Sports Centre will not tolerate abuse to members of staff, students or parents from parents or students.
b. Sandhill Sports Centre operates a no tolerance policy to abuse.
c. Parents/students who have committed a case of abuse will be asked to leave the centre and police may be contacted if deemed necessary.
d. Sandhill Sports Centre reserves the right to refuse further custom to those who have been abusive at the centre.
